April 2 (TN) Vast Infraestrutura carried out the first ExxonMobil oil transshipment operation in Brazil, moving one million barrels from the Bacalhau Field to Vast’s Oil Terminal (T-Oil), in the Porto do Açu, in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, destined for the international market.
The operation involved two Suezmax class tankers – the tanker Primeway and the shuttle tanker Windsor Knutsen – and is part of the logistics for transporting the production from the field, located in the Santos Basin.
“This operation demonstrates T-Oil’s capacity to serve large-scale pre-salt projects with safety, efficiency and reliability,” says Victor Snabaitis Bomfim, CEO of Vast.
The Bacalhau project marked ExxonMobil’s first production in Brazil after more than a century of presence in the country. The field is operated by Equinor (40%) in partnership with ExxonMobil Brasil (40%) and Petrogal Brasil (20%), under a production sharing agreement, with PPSA as the contract manager.
Currently, Vast serves a portfolio of 13 clients in total, including operations at the Açu Liquids Terminal (TLA). ExxonMobil is the most recent client to join the portfolio.
T-Oil is the only private terminal in Brazil authorized to operate VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) class vessels and is licensed to handle up to 1.2 million barrels per day. In 2025, Vast handled 30.6 million tons of oil destined for the international market. With this volume, the terminal accounted for 48% of the crude oil shipped via terminals in the country for export, maintaining its leadership in this segment.
