ANP Releases Consolidated Oil and Gas Production Data for January 2026

March 2 – In January 2026, Brazil produced 5.168 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) of oil and natural gas. The data was released today by the ANP in its Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin.

Regarding oil, 3.953 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 14.6% compared to the same month in 2025.

Natural gas production in January was 193.16 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was a 0.6% decrease compared to December and a 20.2% increase compared to January 2025.

Pre-salt

Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt layer in January was 4.129 million boe/d, corresponding to 79.9% of Brazilian production. Production decreased by 1.8% compared to the previous month and increased by 19% compared to the same month in 2025.

3.167 million bbl/d of oil and 152.98 million m³/d of natural gas were produced through 177 wells.

Natural gas utilization

In January, natural gas utilization was 97.1%. 61.92 million m³/d were made available to the market, and 5.68 million m³/d were flared. There was a 16.9% increase in flaring compared to the previous month, and a 27% increase compared to January 2025.

The increase in flaring is mainly due to the commissioning of the P-78 platform in the Búzios Field, which began operations on December 31, 2025.

Production Origin

In the month, offshore fields produced 97.9% of the oil and 87% of the natural gas. Fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 89.4% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,080 wells, 563 offshore and 5,517 onshore.

Fields and Installations

In January, the Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, was the largest oil producer, registering 875,680 bbl/d of oil. The Tupi field, also in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of natural gas, with 43.19 million m³/d.

The installations with the highest production were the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, in the Búzios field, for oil (241,608 bbl/d); and the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, in the Mero field, for gas (12.51 million m³/d).
