Jan. 16 – Vessels Contracted by Saipem Are Already En Route to the Campos Basin to Begin Construction of Gas Pipeline

Spliethoff, a company based in Amsterdam, has been contracted by the Italian company Saipem to provide engineering, drilling, and construction services for the Raia project gas pipeline in the Campos Basin. The Dutch company will charter two offshore support vessels from its fleet (m/v Brouwersgracht and m/v Bloemgracht). The two vessels have already completed customs clearance procedures in Rio and are now heading to Guarujá before departing for the Raia field.

As a reminder, Saipem was contracted in November 2023 to install the Raia project gas pipeline, approximately 200 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The scope of work of the Italian company encompasses offshore transportation and the installation of the subsea gas export pipeline and associated equipment, at depths of approximately 2,900 meters.

Equinor is the operator of the Raia project, in partnership with Repsol Sinopec Brasil (35%) and Petrobras (30%). The field is considered one of the largest natural gas projects in Brazil, encompassing three distinct pre-salt discoveries: Pão de Açúcar, Gávea, and Seat, with recoverable reserves of natural gas and oil/condensate exceeding 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe).
