Brazilian Oil and Gas Production Hits New Record in October

Dec. 2- Brazilian oil and gas production — including pre-salt, post-salt, and onshore — hit a new record in October, reaching 5.255 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. In total, 4.030 million barrels of oil per day were produced, a 2.9% increase compared to September and a 23.2% increase compared to October 2024. Natural gas production reached 194.78 million cubic meters per day, a 2.2% increase compared to the previous month and a 22.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Pre-salt production accounted for 4.276 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, a 3.2% increase compared to September and a 27.8% increase year-on-year. This production, originating from 178 wells, represented 81.4% of the national total. Separately, the pre-salt layer delivered 3.309 million barrels per day of oil and 153.72 million m³ per day of natural gas.

In October, the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin, remained the largest oil producer, with 884,780 barrels per day. In natural gas, the highlight was the Mero field, also in the Santos Basin, with 41.34 million m³/day. Among the production units, the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, which operates in Búzios, Búzios Eco and Tambuatá, recorded the highest oil production, with 232,940 barrels per day. The FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, in the Mero field, was the leader in natural gas, with 12.70 million m³/day.
