Brazil Pre-Salt Oil Hits New Production Record in September

ANP reports new record for the pre-salt layer, for the month of September with a production of 4.143 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The volume represents an increase of 2.7% compared to the previous month and 12.5% ​​compared to September 2024.

Pre-salt production, which occurred through 169 wells, accounted for 81.1% of the national total in the month. Separately, oil production was 3.209 million barrels per day and natural gas production was 148.37 million cubic meters per day.

Brazil’s total national oil and gas production, considering all environments (pre-salt, post-salt, and onshore), was 5.114 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. This did not surpass the previous record, achieved in July of this year with 5.160 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The Tupi field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, was the largest producer, registering 818.08 barrels per day of oil and 40.48 million cubic meters per day of natural gas. The installation with the highest oil production was the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, operating in the Búzios and Tambuatá fields, with 222,160 barrels per day. Finally, the unit with the highest natural gas production was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero reservoir, with 12.13 million cubic meters per day of natural gas.
