Petrobras discovers oil traces in the Agua Marinha Block

Oct. 7 – Petrobras announced promising results in its drilling program in the Campos Basin. The company notified the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) about the discovery of oil traces in the Agua Marinha block, in well 1-BRSA-1401DA-RJS, in a water depth of 2,601 meters, drilled by the Deepwater Aquila drillship in July.

The Agua Marinha block is located in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin. The area was auctioned in 2022, during the first cycle of the Permanent Share Offer. Petrobras is the operator of the block, with a 30% stake, in partnership with TotalEnergies (30%), Petronas (20%), and QatarEnergy (20%).

Petrobras intends to double its oil and natural gas production in the Campos Basin over the next ten years, from the current 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) to 1 million boed by 2035. In addition, the company plans to invest US$23 billion by 2029 in the so-called Campos Basin Revitalization Program.
