IBAMA Issuing Preliminary License for Stage 4 of Santos Basin Pre-Salt Development

Sept. 17 (PN) This week, Petrobras received a preliminary license from the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (IBAMA) for Stage 4 of the Santos Basin. The project aims to further expand the production and transportation of oil and natural gas from the pre-salt layer.

The project involves the installation and operation of 10 platform ships, located at least 178 km off the coast of the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in waters above 1,880 meters deep.

In total, Stage 4 is expected to include approximately 132 new wells, totaling an estimated average production of 123,000 m³ of oil per day and approximately 75 million m³ of natural gas per day.

Each platform and its respective subsea production systems will undergo planning, installation, operation, and decommissioning. The first project is scheduled to enter operation in 2026.
