Drillship Tidal Action getting ready for new campaign in the Roncador Field

The drillship Tidal Action, owned by Constellation, is undergoing final preparations before starting a new mission. The unit was contracted by Petrobras to join a new drilling campaign in the Roncador field, in the Campos Basin.

The contract, signed in September of last year, also includes the Laguna Star rig, which is already on its way to Roncador. Each drillship will be chartered for a period of two and a half years.

According to the company, the Tidal Action operation should generate around 250 direct and indirect jobs, while the Laguna Star will maintain another 250 jobs during the contract period.

The two vessels were designed to perform a wide range of drilling, completion and intervention services in subsea wells, with a focus on production development. Both have advanced technology to operate in ultra-deep waters, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and the capacity to support emergency response operations.

Petrobras is the operator of the Roncador field, with a 75% stake, in partnership with Equinor, which holds the remaining 25%.
