(PN) Petrobras began drilling well 3-BRSA-1400-SPS, in a water depth of 1,835 meters, using the West Auriga drillship. This is the sixth well drilled by the state-owned company in the block. The previous well, named 3-BRSA-1399-SPS, was drilled at the end of May, in a water depth of 1,866 meters.
Aram was acquired in March 2020, during the 6th bidding round of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), under the production sharing regime, with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as the contract manager. Petrobras is the operator of the area, with an 80% stake, in partnership with CNPC (20%).
The oil company has already found signs of oil in two wells in the block. The latest discovery was made in May of this year, in well 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS. At the time, the company said it would conduct laboratory analyses to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found, which will allow it to assess the area’s potential.
