Petrobras finds oil signs in Alto Cabo Frio Central block

(PN) Petrobras notified the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) about the discovery of oil signs in well 3-BRSA-1398-RJS, located in the Alto de Cabo Frio Central block, in the pre-salt area of ​​the Campos Basin. The well is located in a water depth of 2,276 meters.

The drilling of the well began at the end of February this year, using the West Polaris drillship. The Alto de Cabo Frio Central block was acquired by Petrobras in October 2017, during the 3rd ANP bidding round. The state-owned company is the operator of the area, with a 50% stake, in partnership with BP, which holds the other 50%.

In July 2022, Petrobras completed the formation test of the pioneer well in the block (1-BRSA-1383A-RJS), in which a thick interval of pre-salt carbonate reservoirs was evaluated, confirming good productivity. During the test, oil samples were also collected for laboratory characterization.
