(PN) Petrobras is expanding its exploration efforts in the promising Aram block, located in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. In recent days, the company began drilling a new well in the area, named 3-BRSA-1399-SPS, in a water depth of 1,866 meters. The operation is being conducted by the Valaris DS-4 drillship.
In addition to this, the state-owned company is expected to drill another well and perform a formation test as part of the Aram Discovery Assessment Plan (PAD). The block was acquired in March 2020, during the 6th ANP bidding round, under the production sharing regime, with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as the contract manager. Petrobras is the operator of the area, with an 80% stake, in partnership with CNPC (20%).
It is worth remembering that, earlier this month, Petrobras had already announced the discovery of oil in another well in the block, 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS — the second discovery recorded in the area. The consortium will begin laboratory analyses to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found, which will allow the region’s production potential to be assessed.
