(PN) This week, Petrobras began drilling a well (3-BRSA-1398-RJS) in the Alto de Cabo Frio Central block, in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin, in a water depth of 2,276 meters. The activity is being carried out by the West Polaris drillship, according to information available on the website of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).
As a reminder, the block was acquired by Petrobras in October 2017, during the 3rd ANP bidding round. Petrobras is the operator of the area and holds a 50% stake, in partnership with the company bp (50%).
In July 2022, Petrobras completed the formation test of the pioneer well (1-BRSA-1383A-RJS), which evaluated a thick interval of pre-salt carbonate reservoirs in which good productivity was demonstrated. During the test, oil samples were collected to be characterized through laboratory analysis.
