Petrobras approves contracting of 10 new vessels for underwater activities

Petrobras has approved the contracting of 10 new vessels for underwater activities, eight of which are RSV (ROV Support Vessel) and two are AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply). RSV vessels are used in ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) operations to perform intervention, inspection, maintenance and repair services for underwater equipment and systems. AHTS vessels are used for maintenance, Pull Back (positioning of Stationary Production Units – UEP and rigs) and are also used for handling and launching anchors for installing UEPs and rigs. The bids require a minimum local content of 40% for the construction of new vessels. The opening of the tender for contracting the RSV vessels was announced this Monday (10/07) and the expectation is that the units will enter into operation by 2029. Then, in December, the bidding process notice will be opened for contracting the AHTS vessels, which are expected to enter into operation by 2030

“The tenders are part of the strategy to renew the RSV and AHTS fleet and will include the construction of new vessels, with a minimum local content requirement of 40% for this. The technical specification also requires that the vessels meet advanced standards of operational efficiency, safety and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions,” highlights Petrobras’ Director of Engineering, Technology and Innovation, Renata Baruzzi.

Detailed information about the contracting process will be available for consultation on Petrobras’ contracting website (Petronect) as the notices are published.
