Brazil O&G production in August hits 4.345 million boe/d.

(TN) ANP released the Monthly Bulletin of Oil and Natural Gas Production for August 2024, which brings consolidated data on national production. Total Brazil production (oil + natural gas) was 4.345 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).

With regard to oil, 3.340 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, an increase of 3.4% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 3.5% compared to the same month in 2023.

Natural gas production in August was 159.7 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was an increase of 5.6% compared to July 2024 and of 8% compared to August 2023.

Pre-salt

Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt in August was 3.463 million boe/d and corresponded to 79.7% of Brazilian production.

This number represents a growth of 5.5% both in relation to the previous month and in comparison to the same month in 2023. 2.694 million bbl/d of oil and 122.25 million m³/d of natural gas were produced through 148 wells.

Use of natural gas

In August, the use of natural gas was 97.8%. 54.33 million m³/d were made available to the market and flaring was 3.61 million m³/d. There was a 6.8% increase in flaring compared to the previous month and a 4.3% drop compared to August 2023.

Origin of production

In the month, offshore fields produced 97.6% of the oil and 83.8% of the natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 89.21% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,432 wells, 493 offshore and 5,939 onshore.

Fields and facilities

In August, the Tupi field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, was the largest producer, registering 832.60 thousand bbl/d of oil and 43.19 million m³/d of natural gas. The installation with the highest production was the FPSO Carioca (Mv-30), operating in the Sépia, Sépia Leste and Sépia Eco fields, with 160,720 bbl/d of oil. In natural gas, the installation with the highest production was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero field, 10.19 million m³/d of gas.
