ANP released the Monthly Bulletin of Oil and Natural Gas Production for June 2024, which brings consolidated data on national production. In June, there was an increase, compared to May 2024, in oil and natural gas production, as well as in pre-salt production.
Total production (oil + natural gas) was 4.353 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).
With regard to oil, 3.409 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, an increase of 2.7% compared to the previous month and 1.3% compared to the same month in 2023.
Natural gas production in June was 150.07 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was an increase of 3.1% compared to May 2024 and a decrease of 1.4% compared to June 2023.
Pre-salt
Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt in June was 3.424 million boe/d and corresponded to 78.7% of Brazilian production.
This number represents an increase of 3.3% compared to the previous month and of 5.6% compared to the same month in 2023. 2.683 million bbl/d of oil and 117.90 million m³/d of natural gas were produced through 150 wells.
Use of natural gas
In May, the use of natural gas was 98.0%. 47.44 million m³/d were made available to the market and flaring was 3.05 million m³/d. There was a 14% drop in flaring compared to the previous month and a 3342% drop compared to June 2023.
Origin of production
In the month, offshore fields produced 97.6% of the oil and 86.8% of the natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 89.50% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,551 wells, 521 of which were offshore and 6,030 onshore.
Fields and facilities
In June, the Tupi field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and gas, registering 787.08 thousand bbl/d of oil and 39.70 million m³/d of natural gas. The installation with the largest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero deposit, with 178,381 bbl/d of oil and 11.64 million m³/d of gas.
