ANP released the Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin for February 2024, which provides consolidated data on national production. Total production (oil + natural gas) was 4.383 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).
Regarding oil, 3.448 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, a reduction of 2.0% compared to the previous month and an increase of 5.7% compared to the same month in 2023.
Natural gas production in February was 148.63 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was a drop of 3.4% compared to January 2024 and an increase of 1.4% compared to February 2023.
Pre-salt
Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt, in February, was 3.336 million boe/d and corresponded to 76.1% of Brazilian production.
This number represents a reduction of 1.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 2.1% compared to the same month in 2023. 2.623 million bbl/d of oil and 113.46 million m³/d were produced. d of natural gas through 148 wells.
Use of natural gas
In February, natural gas utilization was 96.5%. 52 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 5.28 million m³/d. There was an increase of 16.3% in burning compared to the previous month, and 38.7% compared to February 2023. The increase in burning was due to the continued commissioning of the FPSO Sepetiba, in Campo de Mero, being common in these cases of new platforms.
Origin of production
During the month, offshore fields produced 97.5% of oil and 86.4% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 88.69% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,505 wells, 533 offshore and 5,972 onshore.
Fields and Facilities
In February, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 744.68 thousand bbl/d of oil and 37.30 million m³/d of natural gas . The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero deposit, with 179,593 bbl/d of oil and 11.56 million m³/d of gas.
