Subsea 7 enters new phase in contracts in the Bacalhau and Mero Fields

(PN) Subsea 7 is taking new steps in the execution of some of its main contracts in the Brazilian market. The company recently announced an update on its operations in the country and revealed that it has made progress in the Bacalhau and Mero projects, both in the Campos Basin.

In Bacalhau, the company installed the field’s pipelines and umbilicals during the fourth quarter of 2023 using the vessels Seven Vega, Seven Pacific and Seven Cruzeiro. The Bacalhau field is operated by Equinor (40%), in partnership with ExxonMobil (40%), Petrogal (20%) and PPSA (manager of sharing contracts).

As a reminder, the contract for the installation of the subsea collection system (SURF) and production systems (SPS) in the Bacalhau field was awarded in 2021 to the Subsea Integration Alliance (formed by Subsea 7 and OneSubsea). The agreement encompasses 140 kilometers of rigid risers and flow lines, 40 kilometers of umbilicals and 19 Christmas trees, in addition to associated subsea equipment that will be installed in water depths of approximately 2,050 meters.

Meanwhile, Subsea 7 also said that it has advanced in the engineering of the Mero 3 and Mero 4 projects, where it was contracted by Petrobrás to install underwater infrastructure in the field. On Mero 3, the agreement covers engineering, manufacturing, installation and pre-commissioning of 80 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines, 60 kilometers of flexible service lines, 50 kilometers of umbilicals and associated infrastructure, as well as the installation of the Mero 3 FPSO mooring system. In Mero 4, the scope encompasses engineering, acquisition, manufacturing, installation and pre-commissioning of 76 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines for the production system.
