(PN) Omni Taxi Aereo, part of the Omni Helicopters International (OHI) Group, the main provider of air mobility solutions in Latin America, announces that it has won two contracts from Petrobras to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in offshore missions. The missions will perform beyond-line-of-sight (BVLOS) flights, transporting 50kg payloads to offshore installations and conducting flights between installations. These will be the first UAV missions of this type in Brazil. The contracts awarded by Petrobras were signed with OMNI with the consultancy support of OHI Unmanned, OHI’s drone division. In addition to cargo transport, the mission will collect data on airspace sharing between UAVs and helicopters, representing a crucial step in the development of unmanned aerial logistics.
OHI is at the forefront of sustainable solutions that support the orderly energy transition. This project has the potential to significantly reduce costs and CO2 emissions for smaller, urgent cargoes, replacing the use of conventional helicopters and boats. “Our almost 20-year relationship with Petrobras has been guided by innovation and we are pleased that they chose us for this further journey”, said the CEO of Omni Taxi Aereo, Roberto Coimbra.
João Welsh, CEO of OHI Unmanned, highlights the importance of this project and the agreement with Petrobras: “We are very pleased to collaborate with Petrobras. With innovation and cutting-edge technology, we can seamlessly integrate unmanned vehicles into critical missions, offering excellent service to customers and contributing to sustainable results.” The first operational flights are scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.
