(PN) Tenaris announced that it has signed a contract with Petrobras to provide coating services for the Mero 4 production system, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. Under the scope of the contract, Tenaris will apply 81 km of thermal insulation coating to risers and flow lines.
“The qualification process will take place throughout 2024, with deliveries scheduled for 2025. Once coated, the pipelines will be transported to Espírito Santo, where the coiling and assembly processes will take place before offshore installation,” the company detailed in a statement. .
The Mero field is the third largest in the pre-salt region and is operated by a consortium formed by Petrobras in partnership with Shell, TotalEnergies, CNODC and CNOOC. The Mero 4 production system will have 15 wells connected to the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão, which has a processing capacity of 180 thousand barrels per day.
This will be the fourth major riser and flowline project with coating manufactured by Tenaris in Brazil in the last five years, following Bacalhau, Búzios V and Mero 3. “Our growing presence in the thermal coating sector, combined with our global supply capacity of pipes, positions us as a key partner in the Pre-Salt.
