Wood announces contract extension with Equinor for services in the Peregrino field

(PN) Wood announced today that it has secured an extension of a US$80 million contract with Equinor Brasil. The agreement provides for the provision of maintenance and modification solutions for offshore assets in the Peregrino field, in the Campos Basin. The two-year extension builds on a long-term, global partnership with Equinor, where Wood supports the oil company’s operations in the UK, Norway and Brazil.

“This extension reaffirms our customers’ confidence in our ability to consistently meet and exceed expectations in the delivery of brownfield engineering projects. The maintenance and upgrade modifications delivered by our team will extend the useful life of these assets, which are critical to energy security,” said Wood’s President of Americas Operations, Shawn Combden.

Wood will continue to provide maintenance solutions to optimize the Peregrino wellhead platforms and the field’s floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), providing engineering support, prefabrication and equipment, offshore installation, commissioning and recovery (TAR). The reimbursable contract is supported by 500 employees. During the next maintenance campaign scheduled to begin in May 2024, the team will be based in an offshore flotel to increase productivity levels.

“Our eight-year relationship with Equinor in Brazil is built on a well-established track record of asset knowledge and mutual trust. Our commitment to excellence, relentless focus on safe operations and unwavering dedication to understanding our customers’ evolving needs were key to securing this victory,” said Wood’s general manager for Brazil, Hugues Corrigan.

Equinor has made recent advances in the automation of drilling operations at Peregrino. In this regard, SLB’s digital technologies for surface automation, autonomous bottom drilling and directional drilling were combined to allow 99% of a 2.6 kilometer section to be drilled in autonomous control mode.
