Ibama issues the preliminary license for the Parque das Baleias Integrated Project, in the Campos Basin.

The Brazilian Environmental Institute (Ibama) issued the preliminary license for the Parque das Baleias Integrated Project, in the Campos Basin. The document is valid for five years. The project foresees the interconnection of 17 wells to the new platform vessel (FPSO) Maria Quitéria, nine of which are oil producers and eight water injectors. The platform ship should enter production in 2025, with a processing capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil and 5 million m³ of gas per day. The vessel is undergoing work in China and will be chartered to Petrobrás by Yinson.

The Parque das Baleias cluster is formed by the fields of Jubarte, Baleia Anã, Cachalote, Caxaréu, Pirambú and Mangangá. The first field, Jubarte, was discovered in 2001. In 2019, Petrobras and the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) signed an agreement to extend the concession period until 2056 for the new unified Jubarte field, which enables the implementation of the new production system of the Parque das Baleias Integrated Project, in addition to complementary projects in the area.

Currently, the Parque das Baleias region has four platforms in operation (FPSO Capixaba, FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, FPSO P-57 and FPSO P-58). Petrobras claims that the integrated project will contribute to the continuity of oil and gas production in the Campos Basin, where most of the fields are already in production.
