With 4.698 million boe/d, oil and natural gas production Brazil breaks record for the month of November

Oil and natural gas production in November recorded a volume of 4.698 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d), surpassing the previous record achieved in September, when 4.666 MMboe/d were produced.

Regarding oil, 3.678 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) were extracted, an increase of 3.8% compared to the previous month and 18.8% compared to November 2022. Natural gas production was 162.12 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/d), an increase of 6.3% compared to October 2023 and 15.5% compared to November 2022.

In both oil and natural gas, the volume extracted surpassed the September record, when 3.672 MMbbl/d and 157.99 MMm³/d were produced, respectively.

Pre-salt

Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt, in November, was 3.585 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and corresponded to 76.3% of Brazilian production.

This number represents an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous month and 20.9% compared to the same month in 2022. 2.825 million barrels of oil per day and 120.83 million cubic meters per day of natural gas through 150 wells.

Use of natural gas

In November, natural gas utilization was 97.8%. 56.58 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 3.66 million m³/d. There was a 1.8% drop in burning compared to the previous month, and an increase of 0.3% compared to November 2022.

Origin of production

In November, offshore fields produced 97.8% of oil and 85.2% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 88.77% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,477 wells, 537 offshore and 5,940 onshore.

Fields and facilities

In November, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 887.16 thousand bbl/d of oil and 43.87 million m³/d of natural gas . The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara in the shared Mero deposit, with 179,516 thousand bbl/d of oil and 11.63 million m³/d of gas.
