(PN) Well drilling work in the Wahoo field, in the Campos Basin, should begin in January, when the environmental license should be issued by IBAMA. The projection was presented this week by the CEO of PRIO, Roberto Monteiro, during an event with investors. The four wells planned in the area will be drilled by the Hunter Queen rig between January and October next year. The expectation of first oil is for July or August 2024.
As a reminder, PRIO will create a tieback between the Wahoo and Frade fields, which will share the same production platform (FPSO Frade). McDermott’s Amazon construction ship, which will do the tieback, will arrive in Brazil between April and May.
PRIO also revealed at the event that the Maracanã prospect, located in the Frade field, in the Campos Basin, could contain between 5 million and 15 million recoverable barrels of oil. The company also announced that it is working to develop an analysis method to determine recoverable volumes and establish the required number of production wells and injectors.
PRIO’s idea is to drill a second well at the Maracanã prospect to better delimit the reservoir. However, this activity should only be carried out after the Hunter Queen rig has completed its work in the Wahoo area. In a next step, the independent oil company also has plans to evaluate the potential of other Frade prospects (Bertioga, Maresias, Paru and Anuri).
Finally, PRIO announced that it must carry out a maintenance stop at P-50, in the Albacora Leste field, from April 2024. The company predicts that the asset’s peak production should be 65 thousand barrels per day, which which should only happen in 2027.
