(PN) The Brazilian Environmental Institute (Ibama) issued the operating license for FSO Pargo, which will be operated by Perenco at the Pargo Complex, in the Campos Basin. The license will last for eight years. FSO type ships are only used for storage and transport – and therefore do not have modules on their topside.
The double-hulled ship was built in 2004 with a storage capacity of 750,000 barrels. The FSO arrived in Brazil in March, after undergoing conversion work at DryDocks World, in Dubai, to extend its useful life by 20 years, adapting the vessel to Brazilian standards and including modifications, such as the installation of an external anchoring system. tower, helipad, skid meter, an extra crane, a new unloading system and export line.
Currently, the Pargo Complex has eight platforms. In the Red field, there are the fixed units PVM-1, PVM-2 and PVM-3; Campo de Carapeba has fixed platforms PCP 1, PCP 2 and PCP 3; in Campo de Pargo there are the PPG-1A and PPG-1B platforms. The PPG-1A platform receives and processes all production from Pargo, Vermelho and Carapeba.
FSO Pargo will be anchored approximately 2.5 km away from the PPG-1A platform, at an average depth of 93 m and 72 km from the coast of the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). A pipeline will transport oil from the PPG-1A platform to the FSO.
