(PN) Petrobras guarantees that the construction schedule for the Rota 3 gas pipeline is on track. The long-awaited project, which will significantly increase the quantity of natural gas in the market, should begin operations in the second half of 2024. The information was presented by the executive director of Engineering, Technology and Innovation at Petrobrás, Carlos Travassos.
The executive said that, of the 24 implementation contracts, all that remains is to complete the construction of the natural gas processing unit (UPGN), which will be located at the Gaslub complex, in Itaboraí (RJ). “It is absolutely up to date, it is a challenging project, but it presents good results and is expected to meet the deadline”, said Travassos. When in operation, Rota 3’s flow rate will be approximately 18 million m³ of gas per day.
The gas that will be flown through Rota 3 will be treated at the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) at Polo Gaslub. The project will have the capacity to process 21 million cubic meters per day of natural gas from the Santos Basin pre-salt hub. Together, Rota 3 and Rota 1 (UPGN Caraguatatuba/SP) and Rota 2 (Terminal Cabiúnas/RJ) – the last two already in operation – will provide total capacity to flow 44 million cubic meters of gas per day.
