ANP: Brazil oil production in August reached 4.392 million boe/d

(TN) ANP released the Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin for August 2023, which provides consolidated data on national production. Total production (oil + natural gas) was 4.392 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d).

Regarding oil, 3.462 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) were extracted, a reduction of 1.4% compared to the previous month and an increase of 12.2% compared to August 2022.

Natural gas production in August was 147.86 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/d). There was a drop of 4.0% compared to July 2023 and an increase of 5.6% compared to August 2022.

Pre-salt

Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt, in August, was 3.282 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) and corresponded to 74.7% of Brazilian production.

This number represents a reduction of 2.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 10.6% compared to the same month in 2022. 2.591 million barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil were produced and 109.73 million of cubic meters per day (m³/d) of natural gas through 141 wells.

Use of natural gas

In August, natural gas utilization was 97.5%. 53.05 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 3.77 million m³/d. There was a drop of 11.8% in burning compared to the previous month, and an increase of 14.4% compared to August 2022.

Origin of production
In August, offshore fields produced 97.7% of oil and 86.1% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 88.30% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,335 wells, 522 offshore and 5,813 onshore.

Fields and facilities
In August, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 760.16 thousand bbl/d of oil and 35.41 million m³/d of natural gas . The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara in the shared Mero deposit, with 180,555 thousand bbl/d of oil and 11.61 million m³/d of gas.
