Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras, regarding the pieces of news published in the media, reaffirms its commitment to investments in the Equatorial Margin, as disclosed in its Strategic Plan 2023-2027, recognizing the importance of new frontiers that ensure the country’s energy security and the resources necessary for a fair and sustainable energy transition.
Exploration in the Equatorial Margin, a new exploratory frontier located in the north and northeast of the Brazilian coast, in a strip extending from Amapá to Rio Grande do Norte, will receive investments of approximately US$ 3 billion.
As disclosed on 05/18/2023, Petrobras is making efforts to obtain the drilling license in this region, having sent a new letter to IBAMA mentioning the decision of the Federal Supreme Court that it is not necessary to submit an Environmental Assessment of Sedimentary Area (AAAS) to explore oil and gas blocks already auctioned.
