Petrobras announced tender for an FPSO for the Albacora field

(PN) Petrobras announced the bidding process that will contract a new FPSO for the Albacora field. The unit will be chartered for 27 years and will have the capacity to produce 120,000 barrels per day and process 6 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Petrobras’ idea is to replace the two units currently in operation in Albacora (P-25 and P-31) with the new platform, which will operate in a water depth of 670 meters. According to the notice, the new FPSO will be connected to 29 wells, 18 of which are producers and another 11 for water injection. The initial forecast is that the opening of bids will take place on February 13, 2023.

The Albacora field was in Petrobras’ divestment portfolio. The state-owned company entered into negotiations with PetroRio to sell the asset, but the companies did not reach an agreement on the final value of the transaction. Thus, Petrobras decided to keep Albacora in its portfolio and start a project to revitalize the field, with the contracting of a new platform, for the development of production of the Forno reservoir.
