ANP: Pre-salt production breaks new records in January

(PN) Pre-salt production hit new records in January, according to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). The agency said that production has reached historic levels both in volume and in percentage of total Brazilian production.

Altogether, the pre-salt produced 2.912 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in January, of which 2.292 million barrels a day of oil and 98.6 million cubic meters a day of natural gas. There was an increase of 7.5% compared to the previous month and 10.7% compared to January 2021.

Pre-salt production was responsible for 74.7% of the total national production. According to the ANP, the main reasons for the increase in the pre-salt layer were the entry of wells into production, mainly in the Sepia and Sepia Leste fields.

The pre-salt performance influenced the total numbers of Brazilian production. According to the ANP, all fields in the country ended the period with 3.897 million barrels of oil equivalent produced per day, of which 3.032 million barrels a day of oil and 137 cubic meters a day of natural gas.

Brazilian oil production grew 6.8% compared to the previous month and 5.6% compared to January 2021. In natural gas, there was an increase of 3.9% compared to December and 0.8% in compared to the same month of the previous year.
