TechnipFMC starts to interconnect FPSO Guanabara at Mero 1

(PetroleoHoje) TechnipFMC started the interconnection campaign of the first well of the Mero 1 system to the FPSO Guanabara. The company concluded the work of loading the first batch of rigid lines of the project on the launch vessel Deep Blue from the spoolbase in Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra (RJ), installed in the Dome area (a joint venture between Prumo and GranIHC).

TechnipFMC’s first shipment of approximately 4 km of rigid lines for the Mero 1 project is directed to producing well 7-MRO-6DB-RJS. In addition to the risers, Deep Blue is loaded with PLETS, sleepers, miscellaneous cables and buoys.

The installation work of the lines of the first producing well of Mero 1 will take about ten to 15 days.

The Deep Blue vessel loading operation began in the last week of February. The FPSO Guanabara is scheduled to come into operation between the end of March and the beginning of April.

TechnipFMC’s contract with the Libra consortium for the Mero 1 SURF includes the supply of 94 km of rigid pipelines. In addition to this first batch, four other shipments will be carried out throughout 2022 and 2023.

The next shipment will take place in the first half of May, including the lines for producing and injecting wells. The Deep Blue ship will remain in Brazil, during this period, on standby.

The last hardline shipment of Mero 1 is scheduled to take place in April 2023.

In addition to Mero 1, TechnipFMC is also responsible for the SURF of Mero 2, which is scheduled to enter into operation in 2023. The manufacture of the rigid lines of the 2nd module of the project will only begin in mid-2022.

According to PetróleoHoje sources, the contract provides for three shipments of rigid lines, which will coincide with the Mero 1 schedule. Two shipments are expected to take place in 2022 and one in 2023.

The TechnipFMC spoolbase was set up to meet Petrobras de Mero’s contracts, and is currently the largest base in Brazil and one of the largest in the world. The contract to install the rigid pipeline factory at Porto do Açu was signed with Dome at the end of 2018.

The agreement between Dome and TechnipFMC is valid until 2038. The base uses an area of more than 100 thousand m², being the largest current installation in the complex.
