Constellation Signs Contract with Petrobras

(PetroleoHoje) Drillship Amaralina Star will operate dedicated to the Roncador field, from the end of 2022. Constellation and Petrobras signed a charter contract for the unit for a period of two years, with possibility of extension for another 365 days.

Constellation presented the best daily rate in Petrobras’ bid to contract a rig for the asset. The exact value of the contract is kept confidential, but sources at PetroleoHoje assure that the daily rate remained between US$ 200,000/day and US$ 300,000/day.

The tender was launched in late March. The purpose of the contract is to carry out a densification campaign for the Roncador well network, aimed at the new production development project for the asset.

The project will involve the drilling of 27 new wells. The system has been developed in partnership with Equinor, the asset’s strategic partner, and is expected to start operating in mid-2024.

Amaralina Star is chartered to Petrobras, operating under the exclusive dedication regime on the BM-S-11. The current contract expires in April.

After the conclusion of the BM-S-11 contract, the Constellation unit will undergo minor adaptation works to meet the requirements required for operation in Roncador.

With the signing of the new contract for Amaralina Star and the prospect of concluding two other deals with Petrobras, focused on the Lone Star and Gold Star semi-submersibles, Constellation ensures the advance contracting of all the equipment in its portfolio that will have a contract expiring in the first half of 2022. The only rig with an undefined situation is Alpha Star, whose contract with the state-owned company expires in the second half of 2022.

The densification project for the Roncador grid will ensure an increase in the asset’s production. The field currently produces 164,000 boe/day, of which 140,800 barrels/day of oil and 3.7 million m³/day of gas.

Discovered in 1996 and put into operation in 1999, the Roncador field is one of the main fields in the Campos Basin. The asset has four production platforms (P-52, P-54, P-55 and P-62), which operate connected to approximately 50 producing wells.
