(PetroleoHoje) Dome and TechnipFMC agreed to extend the contract for the spoolbase area, at Porto do Açu, for another 20 years. The contract, which had been negotiated since the start of operations at the base in April, should be formalized this week. With the agreement, the deal between the two companies will go into effect until 2038.
The original contract between Dome (joint-venture between Prumo Logística and GranIHC) and TechnipFMC for the installation of the spoolbase at Porto do Açu was signed in 2018. The initial deal provided for an early termination clause, which ended in the negotiation process.
The extension of the contract reinforces Dome’s relevance as the main subsea pre-salt hub, acting as a provider of integrated solutions in the segment’s service chain, with a focus on EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contracts. TechnipFMC’s spoolbase was initially set up to meet Petrobras’ SURF contracts for Mero 1 and Mero 2.
The base uses an area of over 100,000 m², making it the largest current facility in the complex. In addition to manufacturing rigid lines at the Porto do Açu facilities, TechnipFMC performs all activities related to storage, movement, welding, line coating and boat attraction.
Dome currently has more than 25 private customers, including another McDermott spoolbase and Delp’s subsea equipment manufacturing unit.
