IBAMA AUTHORIZES PETROBRAS SEISMIC SURVEY IN THE ALBACORA, MARLIN AND VOADOR FIELDS

(PetroNoticias) The Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA) granted the operating license for Petrobras to carry out the multiazimuth 3D and 4D seismic survey activity in the Albacora, Marlim and Voador fields, in the Campos Basin. The license is valid for 4 months.

The new survey could be carried out using the seismic vessel SW Empress, owned by the company Shearwater GeoServices. In May, the seismic data acquisition company announced that it had won this Petrobras contract for the acquisition of 3D and 4D data in the Campos Basin.

“Brazil has one of the most advanced 4D seismic monitoring programs in deep waters for reservoir management. This massive 4D towed streamer seismic award by Petrobras adds significant accrual to the substantial programs already awarded to Shearwater in Brazil,” said Shearwater GeoServices CEO Irene Waage Basili at the time.
