Petrobras launches efficiency program to reduce costs with a focus on Buzios

(Reuters) – Petrobras has launched an initiative that aims to cut costs by 30% related to drilling wells and will concentrate on future operations in the Búzios field, the largest in the world in deep waters and the state’s main asset, in the pre-salt layer Santos Basin.

The company said that the so-called Well Efficiency Program (PEP-70) expects to progressively reduce the deadlines for building these structures in Búzios, which involves optimizing engineering projects and incorporating new technologies under development.

“For comparison, the average number day for wells drilled in the Búzios field in 2017 was 171 days. In 2020, thanks to the application of new technological solutions, one of the wells was built in just 91 days … With the new program, the goal now is to further advance in this activity ”, said the state-owned company, in a press release on Friday market.
