The president of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP), Clarissa Lins, recently revealed, during an online broadcast, that this year’s Rio Oil & Gas will be done entirely in digital format. The event will be held between December 1st and 3rd, on an exclusive online platform for the fair. According to the IBP, the original agenda of the event will be adapted to the new platform.
The general secretary of IBP, Cristina Pinho, becomes the Chair of the Organizing Committee of Rio Oil & Gas, assuming the role in place of Hugo Repsold who left for personal reasons. Pinho even reveals that in 2021 the event may take on a hybrid format – that is, a mix between classroom and virtual activities.
In a statement published on the event’s website, the IBP president said that the entity will keep its focus on generating content, exchanging expertise and generating business, now in a digital environment. “We chose to innovate in the 2020 edition of ROG, reaffirming the transformation capacity of the oil and gas industry. We want to be present, especially in this delicate moment that everyone is going through, showing the potential and relevance of this segment ”, he said.
As a reminder, before the coronavirus pandemic broke out, the original month for Rio Oil & Gas would be September. However, with the expansion of Covid-19 in Brazil and worldwide, several events in the oil and gas sector were postponed or canceled. The most emblematic example is the OTC Houston 2020, not being held this year because of the pandemic. The organization of the event preferred to focus on the 2021 edition, scheduled for May.
