OCYAN DRILLS 26 WELLS IN DEEP WATERS WITH THE USE OF ITS CONTROLLED PRESSURE TECHNOLOGY

Jun 23, 2020

Ocyan is celebrating the results achieved with its commitment to an innovative methodology for drilling wells in deep waters in Brazil. The company already accumulates 26 wells drilled using pressure controlled technology (MPD). The method, according to the company, guarantees greater operational safety in the development of complex projects.

“When we started using MPD more ostensibly, the methodology became a differentiator. Ocyan took the lead here in Brazil in this process, which demonstrates the pioneering nature of the company’s actions in offering the customer a differentiated solution for their needs ”, commented the engineering director of Ocyan’s Drilling Unit, Lourenço Morucci.

In all, three rigs from the company’s fleet have the technology: ODN I, ODN II and Norbe VI. They can be used at different stages in the construction and operation of wells. The methodology has additional equipment during the drilling process, which ensures better pressure control compared to the conventional method.

“The control of the drilling fluid pressure in the operation reinforces safety, since it detects possible problems of well control more quickly, reduces the execution time of complex wells, besides reducing operational and environmental risks. All these factors combined generate an increase in efficiency and cost reduction for the client “, explained the commercial manager and one of those responsible for the implementation of the system at Ocyan, Leandro Brandão.
