Oil Group and EnP signed an agreement on Friday (29) to develop the construction project for the Espírito Santo Refinery (RefinES) and the Capixaba Lubricants and Asphalt Plant (LubCap). The expectation of the companies is that the works will raise investment in the order of R $ 2 billion for both projects.
The companies expect the feasibility and licensing studies to take place by the end of next year, with the works estimated to start in 2022. The cities that will receive the projects will be defined later.
RefinES will have an initial capacity of 30 thousand barrels per day, with refining of gasoline, diesel, marine diesel oil and fuel oil – the company works with modular projects, which can be expanded in the future. LupCap is designed to initially produce 1,000 barrels of lubricants per day and 500 tons of asphalt per day, with the possibility of using heavy oil produced on land in Espírito Santo.
“Due to the privileged conditions of Espírito Santo, such as its strategic location, the A-grade business environment and the combination of onshore and offshore production of different types of oil, the state was chosen for these two projects”, explained EnP’s CEO, Márcio Felix.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony by videoconference and was attended by ES Development Secretary Marcos Navarro.
This week, the Oil Group signed an agreement to develop a refinery of 20 thousand barrels per day of capacity in Porto do Açu, in Rio de Janeiro. The company’s plans for the Southeast and Northeast are to invest in larger, expandable plants – in Açu, the project includes an expansion to 50 thousand barrels / day. On another front, in the Northeast and Midwest, the company sees opportunities for mini refineries.
