The new secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, José Mauro Ferreira, is a former director of the Energy Research Company (EPE). The appointment was published in the Official Gazette (DOU) today.
Ferreira holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry, a Master’s in Materials Engineering from the Military Engineering Institute (IME) and a PhD in Energy Planning from the Energy Planning Program (PPE) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He has over 25 years of professional experience, working in the oil, natural gas and biofuels sectors. He also worked, for several years, in the undergraduate and graduate teaching area, with three published books and more than 30 scientific works presented or published in journals or annals of national and international congresses.
Ferreira will replace Renata Isfer, who has worked at MME since 2016 and participated in the execution of the main projects of the Ministry for the sector, such as the Auction of Surplus on Transfer of Rights, RenovaBio, Reate 2020, Abastece Brasil, Novo Mercado de Gás e other guidelines relevant to consumer protection, guarantee of supply and promotion of competition.
