MAR 13 , 2020

According to information obtained by Petronotícia, the vessel Batuira crashed into the platform ship P-77, in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin. The FPSO suffered damage to its side and, in addition, there was a detachment of the gangway – a walkway that connects the Maintenance and Safety Unit (UMS) to the P-77.

Also according to the findings of our reporting team, the FPSO continues to operate while the damage is still being assessed. The collision had a deck extension against the P-77’s side, reaching and pulling out the aft dive deck and gangway base. The platform is located approximately 200 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, operating at a water depth of 1,980 meters.

This week, as we reported, Petrobras announced new daily production records in the giant Búzios field. There were 640 thousand barrels of oil per day and 790 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day produced on the four platforms (P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77) currently installed in the field.

At the time of the last update of the report, Petrobras had not yet responded to our request for statements about the accident.
