Petrobras began a new environmental licensing process for drilling an exploratory well in the area of block BM-P-2 in the Pelotas Basin. The opening of the new process follows a license denied by Ibama for the campaign in the region.
The request at Ibama was filed on December 3. After 14 years of licensing, the technical opinions indicate that Petrobras was unable to satisfactorily comply with requests from the environmental agency.
Petrobras and Total are trying try to sell the asset. The teaser, which marks the start of the sale, was published this week, providing for the settlement of 30% to 65% of the BM-P-2 contract, which comprises four blocks. The companies are partners, each with 50% of the concession and the sale is joint.
