Equinor, as operator, on behalf of the BM-S-8 and Norte de Carcará consortiums, informs that it has submitted to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the Declarations of Commerciality of the Carcará discovery, in the area of Santos Basin pre-salt. Together with the Declarations of Commerciality, the consortia submitted to the ANP the Final Report of the Area Assessment Plan.
The Carcará discovery is within the license areas BM-S-8 (Concession Regime) and North Carcará (Sharing Regime), in the prolific Santos Basin pre-salt. In all, five exploration / appraisal wells have been drilled, of which four are tested in production.
The Carcará discovery is located 220 km off the coast of Ilhabela municipality, in the state of São Paulo, and has a water depth of about 2,050 meters.
The BM-S-8 consortium is operated by Equinor (40%), in partnership with ExxonMobil (40%) and Petrogal Brasil (Galp) (20%). The North Carcará consortium is operated by Equinor (40%), in partnership with ExxonMobil (40%) and Petrogal Brasil (Galp (20%), and Pre-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA), acting as manager of the Sharing Agreement.
