Petrobras is due to start production in Sergipe’s deepwater in December when it intends to test the Farfan reservoir, one of the discoveries made in the region. The plan foresees the installation of FPSO Cidade de São Vicente, connected to a production well.
It took longer than expected to complete cleaning of the unit’s hull, a requirement of Ibama to prevent the migration of sun coral, a species that can cause environmental imbalances and can be transported to areas where not naturally occurring, embedded in boat hulls.
The company intended to perform the long-term test (TLD) in 2018. The FPSO Cidade de São Vicente is owned by BW Offshore and is contracted by Petrobras until the second quarter of 2020 – TLDs typically last six months. It has capacity to produce up to 30 thousand barrels / day of oil, connected to a well.
Decision of the Board of the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) taken this month. The deadline for completing the campaign in Cumbe, Farfan and Barra, discoveries made in the region, was postponed by one year from 2019 to December 2020.
Great potential in Sergipe
About six years ago, Petrobras made giant discoveries of oil and natural gas off the Sergipe offshore, with great gas production potential. Since then, the projects have been postponed and the current schedule is to install two definitive FPSOs by 2020. The company even seeks a new partner for the project, which is partially for sale.
Only one discovery, Poço Verde, has 11.9 billion (P50) m³ of natural gas in place (VGIP). Volumes are estimated for one of the reservoirs explored during well 1-BRSA-1022-SES discovery assessment plan (PAD), which began in 2013 and completed last year. The PAD encompasses contract areas BM-SEAL-4A (where ONGC is a 25% partner) and BM-SEAL-11 (100% Petrobras).
