CARCARA AND CARCARARA NORTE TO HAVE SEISMIC WITH NODS

Oct 24, 2019

With an eye on the development of the Carcará and Carcará Norte areas in the Santos Basin, Equinor engaged Seabed Geosolutions to run its first 3D seismic campaign with ocean-bottom nodes in the country.

The campaign will cover an area of 410 km², in deep water. Mapping will begin in the second quarter of 2020, extending for about four months.

Seabed Geosolutions is most likely choosing to survey with the same vessels that are finalizing a campaign for Petrobras in the Buzios field, also located in the Santos Basin: the SR / V Vantage and the M / V Subsea Viking node boat .

The contract between Equinor and Seabed Geosolutions was signed for $ 50 million. In addition to seismic, the Norwegian oil company conducts processes of hiring a rig and an FPSO, as well as part of SURF for Carcará and Carcará Norte.

The work for Equinor will mark the second node mapping contracted by a foreign oil company in Brazil. The pioneer was Chevron, also with Seabed, in 2012, in the Frade field in the Campos Basin, shortly after the accident that resulted in the oil leaking from the reservoir.
