The ANP approved the revision of the Pitu well discovery discovery plan (PAD) 1-BRSA-1205-RNS, called Pitu, in the POT-M-853 and 855 deepwater blocks of the Potiguar Basin.
The asset exploration phase, which would end on the 15th, was extended to August 2020, while the discovery evaluation period was also extended by one year to 2022.
The agency responded to a request made by Petrobras, which alleged difficulties in acquiring environmental licenses. Acquired in the 7th round of ANP, the blocks are operated by the state (40%) in partnership with BP (40%) and Galp (20%).
Pitu was discovered in 2013, in 1,731 thousand meters of water, 55 km from the coast of Rio Grande do Norte. Completed the following year, the pioneer well reached a final depth of 5,353,000 m and found a 188-meter hydrocarbon column with an average 24º API oil.
