Another important pre-salt project is starting to move forward. Petrobras recently published the call for charter for the FPSO to be used in Itapu, in the Transfer of Rights area. Bid opening is scheduled for December 22 this year and international bidding will be by closed envelop mode.
The charter agreement will last 21 years and, according to the draft charter agreement provided by Petrobras, the construction of the unit will have a minimum local content of 25%. According to the Petrobras Business and Management Plan, the goal is for the vessel to begin its activities in the year 2023.
The Itapu FPSO is one of 10 units that Petrobras intends to put into operation between 2020 and 2023. Itapu Field is located in Block 1 of the Transfer of Rights area (Florim), in the northern portion of the Santos Basin, about 200 km from the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in a water depth of 2,000 m. Its discovery was in December 2012, with the drilling of well 1-BRSA-1116-RJS.
The field development project foresees 5 oil producing wells, 2 water injectors and 2 water or gas injectors, which will be interconnected to the FPSO.
