FPSO Petrojarl I will be responsible for the production of QGEP in the Santos Basin
Minister of Mines and Energy Moreira Franco used social networks on Wednesday to announce the release of the environmental license for the FPSO Petrojarl I, which will make an Early Production System in the Atlanta field, operated by Queiroz Galvão E & P, and for the FPSO P-77, which will produce in the field of Búzios next year.
Still, according to the minister, environmental licenses were granted to carry out seismic campaigns in Parque das Baleias, in the Campos Basin, operated by Petrobras. The licenses are not yet available in the Ibama database, an environmental agency that is part of the Ministry of Environment.
Queiroz Galvão E & P is awaiting the issuance of the operating license to begin – still in April – to produce in Atlanta. The FPSO Petrojarl I, chartered by QGEP to Teekay Offshore, is expected to be the second production unit to start operations in the Santos Basin this year. Six more platforms are planned for 2018.
The project will be the first development done by a private operation of the basin. Production is expected to reach 20,000 barrels per day of oil from two wells. All the oil will be bought by Shell.
The Atlanta field is operated by QGEP with a 30% stake. The company has as partners Barra Energia (30%) and Dommo Energia (40%). The project is the subject of a corporate dispute.
