Polarcus received the license from Ibama for a 3D seismic campaign on the BM-S-8, in the Santos Basin. The authorization is valid until May 2019 and provides for the survey to be conducted by only one vessel, between the Polarcus Alima, Polarcus Asima, Polarcus Adira and Polarcus Naila.
The BM-S-8 is operated by Statoil, which is currently conducting a Carcará Discovery Assessment Plan (DAP) in the area. The plan is expected to be completed by September 1, following the completion of a well-drilling test and a drilling in the Guanxuma prospect, commitments in progress that are required for the declaration of commerciality.
Upon completion of the plan, the remainder of the block will continue to be evaluated, but will become part of the DAP of Norte de Carcará, a unitizable area adjacent to BM-S-8, which was completed in the 2nd Round of Sharing. The new plan to be proposed for the unitizable portion and the remaining area of the BM-S-8 has not yet been delivered by Statoil to the ANP, but drilling is expected to begin in the second half of 2018. At least two more wells.
