Hereema contracts for Peregrino II

The Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) hired hydraulic engineering company, DGI Doedijns, to design and deliver the third WHP jacket and control system for the second phase of the Peregrino field development in the Campos Basin operated by Statoil. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

The control center will consist of 56 actuated valves, a control center and interconnection hoses. The valves are responsible for the flow of the flotation chamber of the jacket. The company will also install the equipment. The jacket of Peregrino II will be about 135 meters high, weighing 9,300 tons.

The construction of the third WHP Peregrino II jacket is being made at the Heerema shipyard in Vlissingen, Holland, and is expected to be ready to begin shipping to Brazil in October 2019. Herema was hired by Statoil to build the unit in May 2017. The first steel was cut in November of the same year. The second phase of the field provides for investments of US $ 3.5 billion.

The new unit, which will operate in water depths of 120 m, will be interconnected to 21 wells, 15 of which will be producers and six injectors. The drilling system that will make up the new WHP, was purchased ready – it is the equipment that was commissioned by the then OGX (current Dommo)- and was stored at a shipyard in Norway.

The field, 85 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, is operated by Statoil (60%) in partnership with China’s Sinochem. Currently the production system is composed of two WHP and an FPSO, connected to the platforms of dry completion.

Statoil has contracted engineering services and underwater equipment with TechnipFMC.

The minimum overall local content of the project is 38%. Statoil discussed with ANP the calculation methodology used to reach this percentage, since part of the project was contracted in round 2 and another in the ninth round of bids promoted by the agency.

Statoil estimates a recoverable volume of 250 million barrels in the second phase of development of the field, whose concession is valid until 2040.
