Registered companies for the 15th Round of Bids – ANP

The National Petroleum Agency closed the list with companies that will participate in the 15th Round of Bids, which will take place on the 29th. There are 17 companies registered for offshore and four for onshore projects. All companies work or have already worked in Brazil.

 

From the list of 17 companies registered to compete for maritime blocks only Petronas and Wintershall have no exploratory areas currently in the country. But that does not make the country a stranger to these companies, who are now going to try to scratch from history the bad experience they have had in the past.

 

The most emblematic case was Petronas. The Malaysian state-owned company announced in May 2013 that it was buying a 40% stake in the Tubarão Martelo project, operated by OGX (now Dommo Energia), then Eike Batista’s oil company. Six months later, the Brazilian oil company announced the termination of the agreement and reported that it would go to court against the decision of the partner. In addition to the financial problem, the negotiation also left a process in the Securities and Exchange Commission against seven Brazilian oil company managers – including Eike Batista – for delaying disclosure of the company’s exit from the project.

 

The German Whintershall has also been to Brazil. In 2001, the company acquired three exploration blocks: BM-ES-7, in the Espírito Santo Basin, BM-C-19, in the Campos Basin, and BM-S-14, in the Basin of Santos. But had no luck with his assets. In BM-S-14, for example, it drilled three exploratory wells, having two dry results. They ended up returning the three areas to the ANP and left Brazil.
