Petrobras invested US $ 14 billion in 2017, a 12.5% decrease compared to 2016. The information appears in the presentation made by the company’s president, Pedro Parente, at an event at FGV, Rio.
The amount was below the company’s forecast of $ 16 billion in November during the release of third quarter results. At the time, Petrobras reported that it had reduced investments by US $ 1 billion, compared to the US $ 17 billion originally projected, due to the postponement of some activities to build platforms and activities in the Rota 3 pipeline, among other factors.
Of the US $ 14 billion invested in 2017, US $ 11 billion was invested in pre-salt exploration and production, and another US $ 3 billion in refining and natural gas.
By 2018, the oil company’s forecast is to invest US $ 17.3 billion.
